How can I access therapy? Can I afford this?
Private Pay
Private pay rates vary by clinician and are listed on each therapist’s profile.
Session fees are charged to the card on file after each session, typically within one week.
A valid credit, debit, or HSA card must be kept on file for all clients.
Insurance
We are in-network with:
• Anthem BCBS
• Sentara / Optima
• UVA Student Resources (UHC)
If you are using insurance, your out-of-pocket responsibility is determined by your deductible, copay, or coinsurance. Insurance reimbursement is based on contracted rates.
Using Other Insurance

If we are not in-network with your plan, you may choose to pay privately and seek reimbursement directly from your insurer.
We can provide a monthly statement (superbill) upon request. Reimbursement is determined by your insurance company.
We do not submit out-of-network claims. If you are hoping to use out-of-network benefits, you will pay our practice directly and may seek reimbursement from your insurer.
Sliding-Scale Services
The Intern Clinic at Divergent Path Wellness, offers services on a sliding-scale basis with supervised master's-level student interns. Services offered by the Intern Clinic include:

Intern services are not billable to insurance, are time-limited to the duration of the internship, and is intended to expand access to services when affordability is a barrier.
Due to contract requirements, we are unable to offer sliding scale to Medicaid plan members.
At Divergent Path Wellness, sliding-scale services are only available through our Intern Clinic with clinical interns. Staff therapist private pay rates are set and posted on staff member profiles and are not sliding-scale. If you are interested in working with a clinical master's-level student intern; the range of sliding-scale rates is posted on our Intern Clinical at Divergent Path Welllness page.
Other Arrangements
Due to the realities of administrative capacity, Divergent Path Wellness does not participate in single-case-agreements and only works with insurance (as listed under the section on Insurance) with whom we have an existing contract.
We work to promote access to mental services through participation with a limited number of insurance plans and offering sliding-scale therapy with supervised master's-level student interns.
Free Community Support
Staff members at Divergent Path Wellness periodically offer outreach events. These may include support groups and workshops. Some events have an associated fee and some events are offered as free community support. Events will be posted, along with any fee information (many are offered at no cost) on our Events calendar. Most events require registration through the practice portal. The registration link is on the calendar.
